Memorial cards

Memorial cards for every part of the service, from the prayer card guests take home to the thank-you card you send afterward. Every design is free to edit and print, and many come as a matching set.

Prayer and keepsake cards

Wallet-sized cards, 2.5 × 4.25 in, with a photo on the front and a prayer, verse or quote on the back. Guests take them home from the service.

Thank-you cards

Flat 5 × 7 in cards with a photo and a printed note from the family, to send after the service.

Invitations

5 × 7 in cards with the service time and place, to mail or send as an image.

Which cards you need

Most families make one or two kinds. Prayer or keepsake cards are the most common: one per guest, handed out at the door or tucked into each funeral program. Thank-you cards go out in the weeks after, to people who sent flowers, brought food or helped with the service. Invitations make sense when the service is a few weeks away, such as a memorial or a celebration of life.

Printing at home or ordering

Card printers can deliver memorial cards in a day or two, but you can print these tonight. Use 80 to 110 lb card stock. Prayer cards print six to a Letter sheet with cut marks, and 5 × 7 cards print two to a sheet. If you’d rather have them printed, every design also downloads as a print-shop PDF with bleed and crop marks.

Wording for the back

The back of a prayer card holds about 40 to 60 words. Choose a traditional prayer, a few lines of a public-domain poem, or a short quote they loved. For ideas, see short verses for memorial cards and short quotes for memorial cards. For thank-you wording, see funeral thank you card messages.

Questions families ask

What is a memorial card?

Most people mean the small card handed out at a funeral, with a photo on one side and a prayer or verse on the other. The term also covers thank-you cards and announcements sent by the family.

Can I make all my cards match?

Yes. The Garden, Eucalyptus, Noir and Sunflower designs each come as a thank-you card, an invitation and a program, with the same photo frame and colors. Garden also comes as a prayer card.

How long does it take to print memorial cards at home?

About an hour for 100 prayer cards, most of it cutting. Thank-you cards print two to a sheet and take a few minutes to trim.
