How a bifold is laid out

A bifold is one sheet folded once down the middle. The outside of the sheet carries the back page on the left and the front cover on the right. The inside carries the order of service on the left and the life story on the right. In our PDF for home printing, page 1 of the PDF is the outside and page 2 is the inside, so you print both on one sheet and fold.

Printing and folding

Use 80 to 100 lb matte card stock or a heavy 32 lb paper. In your printer’s settings, choose double-sided and “flip on short edge”. Print one copy first and fold it to check the order. For a crisp fold on card stock, score the middle with a ruler and the back of a butter knife before folding. A print shop can fold them for you from the print-shop PDF.

Questions families ask

What size is a bifold funeral program?

Folded, it is 5.5 × 8.5 inches, half a US Letter sheet. Open, it is 11 × 8.5 inches.

Which way do I flip the paper when printing?

Print double-sided and flip on the short edge. The PDF puts the back and front on one side of the sheet and the two inside pages on the other, so the pages read in the right order when folded.

Bifold or trifold?

A bifold has four pages and suits most services. A trifold has six narrower panels and holds a bit more text. If you need more room than a bifold, an 8-page booklet is the easier step up.
